About CCPTools

CCPTools (i.e. Cathodic Corrosion Protection Tools) is a mobile application for engineers, inspectors, and technicians active in cathodic protection, corrosion, and inspection fields. These groups may be active in the oil, gas, water, energy, pipeline, and storage tank industry. The CCPTools covers both general categories;  impressed current cathodic protection and sacrificial anode cathodic protection. In CCPTools, you can find:

  • MATERIALS that are used in cathodic protection, such as
    • Anodes (MMO, HSCI, Mg, Al, Zn, and lead-silver)
    • Transformer rectifiers (controlling mode, cooling mode, enclosure, ripple, switching, solar, and thermoelectric)
    • Backfill (Coke, sacrificial anode backfill, and reference electrode backfill)
    • Cable (Types, application, and datasheets)
    • Box (Safe and Ex types, and internal components like shunt and resistors)
    • Monitoring (applicable for TRs and test points)
    • Other materials (cable-to-structure instrument, such as thermite welding or pin brazing, cable-to-cable connection, such as splicing kit, coating repairing materials, and markers)
  • General information and calculations needed for SITE SURVEY such as:
    • Soil corrosivity
    • Soil resistivity measurement
    • Soil resistivity calculation for different layers and big area
    • Relation between soil type, soil resistivity, and humidity
    • Sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) test
  • Cathodic protection DESING calculation
    • A complete calculation for protection of current requirement, for different shapes of the structures (such as pipe, tank bottom, tank internal, buried vessel, piles, and steel rebar in concrete), different operating temperature, different environment (soil, concrete, freshwater, seawater), and different type of coating
    • Design with sacrificial anodes (Magnesium, Aluminum, and Zinc) in a different environment (soil and seawater) and different anode shapes (for seawater stand-off, flush mounted, and bracelet) with two methods; minimum weight calculation and resistivity of the protection circuit
    • Life calculation based on passed current for HSCI, carbon steel, and MMO anodes
    • Anode groundbed resistance calculation for different anode shapes (cylindrical, sphere, and plate). In addition, for cylindrical anodes in two main categories of Single and Multiple anode groundbed, resistance calculations for the different scenarios of vertical and horizontal anodes are available.
    • Maximum protection length calculation, based on the potential attenuation for on-land pipeline and remote anode groundbed
    • Different potential attenuation calculations with close groundbed assumptions for inside and outside the pipe are presented. Furthermore, vertical and horizontal anode arrangement is considered for attenuation calculation outside the pipe.
    • Cable sizing from both IR-drop and maximum current criteria
    • Transformer rectifier power and efficiency calculation
